Corporate-wide centralized master data management for Suominen

Case Suominen

Corporate-wide centralized master data management for Suominen

Making data management simple

Suominen manufactures nonwoven fabrics as roll goods for wipes, hygiene products and medical applications. Suominen is the global market leader in nonwovens for wipes. The company employs nearly 700 people and operates in five countries.

Bilot delivered a centralized master data management solution for Suominen, with Microsoft Master Data Services as the centralized data repository and Bilot SmartMDM as the user interface ensuring all necessary data is in place and records are maintained with the agreed validation and approval processes.

The solution is used in all five operating countries, and it covers the master data creation and modification processes for customers, vendors, materials, semi-finished products and finished products. Data management tasks are simple, with SmartMDM taking out the complexity and guiding the users through the different data processes.

Increased data quality with a simple solution

The key objectives for the solution were increased data quality with a harmonized corporate-wide master data management process, and the possibility of managing data for multiple operative systems via single user interface. Since Suominen was also renewing their ERP at the time, it was considered a plus that the solution also supported legacy system migration and data cleansing activities.

"The workflow-oriented SmartMDM tool has proven a proficient tool to implement the Suominen data governance model and needed controls."

- Timo Rautakorpi, CIO, Suominen
